Armonk resident and Chairman of the Business Council of Westchester, Charles W. Brown, passed away Monday morning, according to the organization's president, Marsha Gordon.

"Charlie Brown was a most special person and one who enjoyed life, his family, his business and his work with The Business Council of Westchester," Gordon said. "He was our leader and our friend. His passing is most difficult to accept."

According to the Business Council of Westchester, it is still unknown as to how Brown died. An autopsy will be performed in the coming weeks to determine his cause of death.

In December, Brown was elected to the chairman position after several years of serving as a member of the Executive Committee. He began his first two-year term as chairman after eight years of service to the organization with his own firm, C.W. Brown Inc.

C.W. Brown Inc., a contracting and construction management firm, told The Daily Armonk that it would consider issuing a statement perhaps at a later time.

"Always available and committed to the work of the Business Council, Charlie provided a level of leadership that was admired and respected by all," Gordon said.
