RYE, N.Y. – Robert "Bob" Walter Heyde Jr. of Oxford, Conn., a 44-year resident of Rye, died Saturday, April 28, after a short illness. He was 78.
Born Oct. 24, 1933, in Hackensack, N.J., to Myrtle and Robert Heyde Sr., he married Beatrice Loffredo on April 27, 1957. Robert Heyde Jr. worked for Kraft Foods for 37 years and volunteered for Little League baseball in Rye.
He was actively involved in various fundraising activities, including MayFair for the United Hospital in Port Chester. In his later years, Heyde served as a board member for the Coveleigh Club in Rye. After retiring from Kraft Foods in 1993, he divided his time between Oxford and Bonita Springs, Fla.
He is survived by his wife, Beatrice; four sons, Robert (Debra) Heyde III of Somers, William (Jackie) Heyde of Wilton, Conn., Barrett (Tracy) Heyde of Darien, Conn., and Bradley (Meredith) Heyde of Simpsonville, S.C.; a daughter, Bonnie (Gary) Strati of Greenwich, Conn.; two brothers, Charles (Barbara) Heyde and Fred (Dallas) Heyde, both of White Plains; five granddaughters; eight grandsons; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation is from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, May 1, at Munson-Lovetere Funeral Home in Southbury, Conn. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Thomas Church in Oxford.
