The event was free and open to the community. Highlights included a lecture by Dr. Nina Cheigh on the impact of diet and lifestyle changes and several group exercise classes.
Seniors sampled the evidence-based exercise program EnhanceFitness, learned about stress management with breathing and meditation, participated in gentle chair exercises and practiced tai chi.
National Senior Health & Fitness Day is a nationwide health and fitness event for older adults, always held the last Wednesday in May. This year more than 100,000 older adults were expected to participate at local events at more than 1,000 locations across the country on the same day.
