Salon Co-Founder and Creative Director Nuriel Abramov had his staff on hand at 6 a.m. ready for "whatever," which mostly turned into being background extras (though he did get to "pretend cut" another character's hair). And while he didn't get to take a photo with the award-winning actress, he said seeing the process up close and personal was exciting.
This was the first time a film has been shot in the two and a half year-old salon (Numi has another salon in Scarsdale). "A guy just came in one day when I was cutting and said he liked the salon and could he shoot a movie here," says Abramov. "I thought he was kidding but then he showed me his card and he was the real deal."
The Tristar film, which is set to be released in June 2015, is about a struggling musician (Streep) who abandoned her family to find fame and fortune in California. It also stars Kevin Kline, Rick Springfield and Gummer, who plays her estranged daughter. According to lohud.com Streep was seen with Demme at Tarrytown's Rivermarket a few weeks back.
