PORT CHESTER, N.Y. – With less than 48 hours before the first bite is taken, restaurants and residents participating in the Tamarack Tower Foundation's "Taste of Port Chester" are preparing for Sunday's festivities.
The event, which is in only its second year, was a big hit last year, and event organizer and Tamarack Tower volunteer Joan Conklin is predicting that 2012 will be bigger and better.
"It's going to be quite a few more people this year than last year," Conklin said.
Last year 571 people and 25 restaurants participated in the event, which netted the Tamarack Tower Foundation nearly $13,000. This year Conklin has 33 restaurants signed up, as well as two food carts, and has received more than 350 reservations. Conklin said she expects that number to double on the day of the event.
Restaurants participating in Taste of Port Chester are Acuario, Applebee's, Aqui Es Santa Fe Cafe, Arrosto, Asi Es Colombia, Bambu Restaurant, Bartaco, Buffalo Wild Wings, Cafe Mirage, Cassone's Bakery, Coal's, Copacabana, Cousin Frankie's USA Grill, El Criollito Restaurant, Frankie and Louie's Restaurant, Il Signo, Kiosko, Kneaded Bread, Le Creperie Cafe, Longford's Ice Cream, Baron's Foods, Los Remolinos Restaurant, Mary Ann's Mexican Restaurant, Neri's Bakery, Nessa, Paleteria, Panera, Per Voi II, Q Restaurant, Sonor Nueveo Latino Cuisine, Sosa's Pizzeria, Tandoori, Tarry Market, and Varmax Liquor.
To make a reservation the day of the event people are asked to go to the Port Chester Marina half an hour before the event kicks off at noon. Day-of reservations are $30 for adults and $20 for children. For more information, contact Conklin at 914-937-0367 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
