Spin a Yarn: 2 p.m. Group for those who enjoy knitting, crocheting, embroidery, needlepoint or other handiworks. Rye Free Reading Room, 1061 Boston Post Road, Rye.
Invasive-Species Training: 1 p.m.-4 p.m. Volunteer to be a citizen scientist with iMapInvasives, an online tool that supports efforts to protect New York State from invasive flora such as porcelainberry, mile-a-minute vine, multiflora rose, ailanthus and Norway maples. Learn about the program and become trained to contribute GPS data using your smartphone by attending a training session Tuesday hosted by the Jay Heritage Center at Carriage House, 210 Boston Post Road. Family Fun Nights at the Library: 6 p.m.-7 p.m. “Little Chef” event. Listen to “The Very Hungry Caterpillar” by Eric Carle and make your own edible one out of tasty fruits and veggies. Reading Buddies Program: 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Enhance reading skills and encourage a love of books by pairing your child with a teen buddy for one-on-one reading time. Sign up in the Children’s Room or call 914-231-3162 to book a 20-minute session for your child to read with a teen. Reading selections may be of the child’s choice or from a school’s required reading list. Please note that the Reading Buddies Program is not tutoring. Free.
