Steer For Students Throws Fundraiser In Rye Brook

RYE, N.Y. -- Join students, their families and Steer For Students' network of supporters in celebrating and recognizing Five 2016 Steer Program Graduates in Rye Brook.

The event will feature special guest, Sports Illustrated senior writer Alex Wolff on Friday, May 20, from 7-10 p.m. at Hilton Westchester, 699 Westchester Ave., Rye Brook.

Wolff has been a writer for Sports Illustrated since 1980. In addition to covering basketball at all levels, he has written from the Olympics, soccer's World Cup, the World Series, every Grand Slam tennis event, and the Tour de France. SI story assignments have taken him to six continents and to such countries as China, Cuba, Iran, and Russia, and dealt with such issues at the intersection of sport and society as race, gender, style, the environment, drugs, education, law, business, conflict, ethics and culture. 

Wolff's 2011 SI article "Sports Saves the World" has served as the inspiration for, and motive behind the Steer For Student Athletes concept. Steer For Student Athletes is committed to providing funding and services for our candidates to achieve better personal development and educational outcomes.

Below are some suggested donation levels. 

  • Table, $5,000: Full support for one year for one student-athlete. 
  • Half Table, $2,500: Support services for one year for one student-athlete. 
  • Door, $1,000: College Readiness Test Prep Program for one student-athlete. 
  • Hallway, $500: Support for a sports camp or travel team registration fee for one student-athlete.
