RYE, N.Y. Enter the Scared by the Sound Haunted House at Playland Amusement Park in Rye if you dare when the attraction returns Oct. 5 complete with zombies, ghouls, ghosts, and two new attractions to kick off the Halloween season.
The 10,000-square foot haunt awaits visitors featuring a spooky wine cellar, library, sanatorium, and more. The tunnel of doom and the waterfront cemetery and mausoleum are spine-tingle spook-fests from beginning to end. Those who journey through the new Demented Pumpkin Patch and Terror Trail will find themselves amid unstable inhabitants as they walk through a path of intricately carved and lighted pumpkins, wander through cornfields, and stumble upon a slaughter house.
Visit scaredbythesound.com to purchase tickets online by credit card. In-park ticket purchases will be by cash only. Admission for Scared by the Sound is $16 for adults, $12 for children 12 and under, and $5 for Hardly Haunted Matinees. Admission for The Demented Pumpkin Patch/Terror Trail is $12 for all ages. Combo tickets offer savings on admission to both events at $25 for adults and $20 for children under 12.
In addition to the regular shows, Hardly Haunted Matinees providing non-scary fun for children under eight years of age will be held on Oct. 27 and 28 from noon to 4 p.m.
Hours for Scared by the Sound beginning Oct. 5 are Fridays, 8 to 11 p.m.; Saturdays 7 to 11 p.m.; Sundays 7 to 10 p.m.; and Monday through Wednesday Oct. 29 31 from 7 to 10 p.m.
Parents and guardians should use their judgment when deciding if children under 12 should enter the attraction alone or with an adult.
Scared by the Sound is held rain or shine and parking for the attraction is free. Please note that the parks amusement rides will not be open. Enter the attraction area near the Fountain Plaza entrance. For more information call 914-906-0818.
