RYE, N.Y. – The Wainwright House in Rye is hosting several events for the remainder of April and May:
- Laughter For The Soul, Thursday, April 30, at 8 p.m.
A wine and beer reception will be held at 7:30 p.m. Performance starts at 8 p.m. The third year of laughter will feature Moody McCarthy and Andy Pitz. Between the two, they have been guests on the "Late Show with David Letterman," "Jimmy Kimmel Live," "Comedy Strip Live" and have performed at comedy clubs in New York City and Los Angeles. Tickets are $38 for members and $42 for nonmembers.
- Cosmic Memory Of Food With Laura Parisi, Thursday, April 23, from 10:30 a.m.-1 p.m. or 6-8:30 p.m.
This workshop focuses on whole, fresh, organic and local foods. The workshop includes a full set of recipes, hands-on instruction and a family-style meal. Come and understand everyday life, to live, love and teach through seasonal transformation. Price is $62 for members and $68 for nonmembers.
- Rhythm Is The Cure: A Healing Dance and Percussion Workshop with Alessandra Belloni, Sunday, April 26, from 2-6 p.m.
Internationally renowned singer and percussionist Belloni will lead the class based on the roots of an ancient form of music and dance therapy known as tarantella. Participants will learn the unique style of tambourine playing and gain the healing and stress-relieving effect of those rhythms and dances to release blockages of emotional and sensual energies, expelling feelings of depression and repression. Gain homeostatic balance and inner relief of stress, while restoring spiritual and physical energy. Participants are encouraged to dance in bare feet and to wear a skirt. Dress in white clothes if possible. Price is $80 for members and $88 for nonmembers.
