RYE, N.Y. -- Wainwright House has scheduled many new programs for the new year.
A rundown of events is below.
Writing For Laughs with Maureen Amaturo: This class will teach you how to use humor for punchier writing, wittier creativity, and developing a more amusing outlook on any situation. Six-week series from 10 a.m. to noon on Tuesdays, Jan. 20, 27, Feb. 3, 10, 24, March 3. There will be no class Tuesday, Feb. 17.
Artist's Way with Valerie Huyghue: Whether you want to paint or play the piano, or begin a book, a blog, or a new career--this course will get you started. Participants will begin a weekly practice of focusing on creativity using "The Artists Way Workbook" by Julia Cameron. Participants will complete the weekly assignments and discuss the readings. No prior writing experience is required. All participants must bring a copy of "The Artist’s Way Workbook" to each class. Six-week series from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesdays, Jan. 20, 27, Feb. 3, 10, 24, March 3. There will be no meeting Tuesday, Feb. 17.
Alexander Technique: The Alexander Technique is a method of movement re-education. It teaches us to recognize and change long-term postural and movement patterns that interfere with our natural ability to move with ease and fluidity. Appropriate for people of all ages. 4-week series. Three choices: Series 1: Wednesdays, Jan. 21, 28, Feb. 4,11 • 9:15 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Series 2: Wednesdays, Jan. 21, 28, Feb. 4, 11 • 11 a.m. 12:15 p.m. Series 3: Thursdays, Jan. 22, 29, Feb. 5, 12. 7 p.m. to 8:15 p.m.
Ayurvedic Yoga with Susan Wright: Begins Friday, Jan 23. A balancing of mind, organs, and energy system. Become in greater alignment with your needs, the seasons and the expression of your soul. Six-week series from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Continues to second series.
Parenting: The Biggest Job Workshop with Laura Gauld: The workshops are designed to help those committed to the pursuit of person and family excellence. Tuesday, Jan 27. Two times to pick from: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. or 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
