The Milton Chorus is a group consisting of 76 fourth- and fifth-graders from the Milton School. The Osborn is a senior living community in Rye.
The Milton Chorus rehearses once a week before school under the direction of Shawn Amdur, who is a Milton music teacher/chorus director and is also the music coordinator for the Rye City School District.
Thursday's program included: Let the Dreidel Spin, The Hushing Carols, Light One Candle, We Three Kings, For Hanukkah, Silent Night, and The Blue and Gold - Milton School Song.
This program also gave the residents of The Osborn an opportunity to sing a long with The Milton Chorus.
The sing-a-longs included some holiday favorites: "Jingle Bells," "Jolly Old St. Nicholas," "Silver Bells," "Make a Little Music for Hanukkah," "Winter Wonderland," "White Christmas," and the finale of "Deck the Halls."
"This is an important event for the residents as well as the students," Amdur said. "This experience helps children build self- esteem as they share their musical talents with the community at large. For the residents, it is an opportunity to make music with young children, and bring joy to their lives and others."
Amdur said that he is fortunate to have such talented and dedicated students.
"Our parents support our program, and our principal, Dr. Jo Anne Nardone, enthusiastically attends all of our events," said Amdur.
