Jodi Kantor, a New York Times journalist who has extensively covered the Canadian refugee experience, among other crises, will discuss how to assist refugee resettlement in our area on Sunday, June 11 at the Westchester Jewish Center (WJC) in Mamaroneck.

The event, scheduled for 2 p.m. to 5 p.m, is sponsored by Neighbors for Refugees (formerly Hearts and Homes for Refugees of Larchmont/Mamaroneck) and co-sponsored by WJC, Larchmont Temple, Larchmont Avenue Church, St. Augustine Church, St. John’s Episcopal Church, and St. Thomas Episcopal Church,

Kantor will be joined by local elected officials and clergy, as well as representatives from sponsoring agencies HIAS and Catholic Charities.

Among those attending: New York State Senator George Latimer, Lorraine Walsh, Mayor of Larchmont, Westchester County Legislator Catherine Parker, New Rochelle Mayor Noam Branson and Mamaroneck Mayor Norman Rosenblum.

Expect to hear about the state of refugees currently arriving in the U.S.,  learn about the vetting process, and find out what happens after refugees arrive.

The point is to see what kind of help they need and what you can do to get involved. There will also be information on education and grassroots efforts.

Everyone in the community is invited to attend. Go HERE for more information.
