RYE, N.Y. -- Computer classes are among the many events offered at the Rye Library in September.
A rundown of events is below. The Rye Library is located at 1061 Boston Post Road.
"On Pluto: Inside the Mind of Alzheimer’s": Former Rye resident Greg O’Brien, an award-winning investigative reporter, will speak about his journey with Alzheimer's at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 6 in the Rye Free Reading Room.
Story-Telling Guild: Join adult storytellers to share traditional and personal tales and trade tips on storytelling techniques. The Rye Storytellers’ Guild usually meets at 6 p.m. on the first Tuesday of the month at the Rye Free Reading Room. Each meeting is loosely arranged around a theme. Next month the group meets on Sept. 9, the second Tuesday. The topic will be “Harvest Moon.”
Computer Classes: Two-part workshop on computer basics in the Rye Free Reading Room from 10 a.m. to noon on Thursdays, Sept. 11 and 18. Aimed at new computer users. Participants should plan to attend both sessions to get the full benefit.
Write Your Life Story: The Rye Free Reading Room invites you to write your life story. In the first of two workshops, published author Carol Costa will lead participants gently and safely down the path of ‘yesterday’ at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 13. A second workshop on Saturday, Sept. 27, will focus on how to structure your memoir and employ the skills you'll need to pull your story together. Participants should bring a notebook and writing implements to both workshops.
Rye Library Welcomes New Kindergartners: The Rye Free Reading Room invites new school students to a K-Day Social Open House from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 13. Kindergarteners can meet and greet their fellow classmates, get their first very own library cards and take a ride on Sven the Reindeer of "Frozen" fame. There will be refreshments.
