Rye Hosts Fourth Pancreatic Cancer Research Walk Sunday

RYE, N.Y. -- Rye will host the fourth annual Westchester Pancreatic Cancer Research Walk this Sunday at Rye Town Park.

The event is held in honor of Gigi Shanes-Hernandez, who passed away in 2009 after a year-long battle with pancreatic cancer. The walk was organized by her husband Steve and daughter Tara in her memory. The family is anticipating 800 people will attend and are hoping to raise $200,000, which will be donated to the Lustgarten Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer Research.

Registration begins at 8 a.m. Sunday, and the walk will begin at 9:30 a.m. at Rye Town Park. The pre-registration fee for the walk is $50, and walk-in registration is $60.
