The event, which is sponsored by Rye Storytellers' Guild, will be dedicated to the memory of Diane Wolkstein, "a noted international storyteller and tale collector who died earlier this year," according to a press release. The event starts at 7 p.m., at the Rye Free Reading Room, 1061 Boston Post Road.

"Along with tales told by members of the Guild, guest teller Melissa Heckler will share personal remembrances and a story from Diane's Wolkstein's story chest," representatives said in the release. "Melissa was a protege of Diane and is a beloved Westchester teller. Also, Marianne McShane will be joining Melissa Heckler for this special evening. McShane is from Northern Ireland will tell an Irish story and play an Irish air on her Irish harp."

Residents are asked to bring friends to enjoy the evening and listen to tales meant for grown-ups.
