WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- Playland Ice and Westchester Skating Academy have announced mini-camps for children from pre-school through age 15, as well as hockey and figure skating camps for all experience levels.
The goal of the camp is to teach children the skill of skating while experiencing the benefits of a traditional day camp. The program will be at Westchester Skating Academy and, for the first time, at PlayLand Ice. Campers will participate in two skating lessons and enjoy special on-site activities daily, including baking, arts and crafts, sports and nature activities.
Soccer classes, drills and scrimmages will be taught by Super Soccer Stars. Mad Science will bring campers their favorite science experiments like rockets, slime and dry ice and provide take-home activities. Campers also will learn about and meet some of their favorite animals when Greenburgh Nature Center visits.
The camp is available in three groups;
Group 1: Pre-school -- 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Group 2: Ages 5-8 -- 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Group 3: Hockey -- 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Programs are available for daily and weekly enrollment from Monday, June 8 to Friday, July 3; Monday, Aug. 17 through Friday, Aug. 21 and Monday, Aug. 24 through Friday, Aug. 28.
At Westchester Skating Academy, campers ages 9-15 can attend "Camp Chillin," a 90-minutee recreational skating program with optional skating lessons. They also will take daily trips to off-site activities, like mini-golf, movies, bowling, rock climbing and more. "Camp Chillin" will be from Monday, June 8 through Tuesday, June 30.
From June 22 through Sept. 4, Westchester Skating Academy will offer a figure skating camp taught by world- and Olympic-class coaches for skater’s from beginner through elite. This full-day camp includes skating lessons, ice dance, Zumba, jump and spin, modern dance, conditioning, Pilates and more.
Hockey camp will be offered from Monday, July 6 through Friday, Sept. 4 at the Westchester Skating Academy. Players will work on power skating, defensive skills, skill development and on- and off-ice training. Throughout the summer, players will take part in special sessions.
