Bronxville's Chapel School Honors Meehan For Service

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. -- Bronxville resident Laurie Meehan was honored March 8 with the The Chapel School’s Award for Distinguished Service.

“I am thankful that she has directed her energy toward accomplishing so many things at our school," Principal James Dhyne said in a statement. "Sometimes she quietly helps in the background, and sometimes she takes a leadership role, but always having a positive impact on the (Village Lutheran Church) and The Chapel School.”

Meehan currently serves on the Blue Ribbon Foundation board, is president of the PTO, has chaired the Gathering of Friends event and often volunteers to in countless other efforts.

“When she sees a way of making something better at The Chapel School, she puts her energy and persistence into making sure it happens.” the Rev. Dr. Robert Hartwell, senior pastor of the Village Lutheran Church and school, said in a statement. “I want to thank Laurie Meehan for her commitment to quality Christian education and for everything she does for Village Lutheran Church and The Chapel School.”

The school’s prep choir sang, as many families, faculty and staff attended the service.

The service kicked off a week of team-related activities in honor of Lutheran Schools Week at The Chapel School.

During the week, students participated in spirit games, strengthened friendships and even had a pajama day, when they were treated to a pancake breakfast.
