RYE, N.Y. -- This year's harsh winter has another casualty: The Little Garden Club of Rye's annual daffodil show -- originally set for Thursday, April 16 -- was postponed to Thursday April 30.
The daffodils are still pushing their way out from under the leaves and up towards the sun.
The daffodils show's organizers said, "Please give them a little more time to unfurl those perianths!"
The show will run from 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Jay Heritage Center's yellow Carriage House, 210 Boston Post Road in Rye.
Admission is free to view more than 5,000 blooms of an extraordinary number of varieties from White Lions to Tahiti.
Anyone can enter their daffodils into the show. Entries will be received between 8 a.m. and 10:15 a.m.on Thursday April 30. Help will be available for identification and grooming. Judging will take place between 10:45 and 12:30 p.m. and winners selected. The show will then be open to the public from 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m.
