Elvira 'Vera' Citrone, 92, Harrison Native

HARRISON, N.Y. – Elvira "Vera" Phyllis Citrone, a Harrison native, died Oct. 1 at her home in Poughkeepsie. She was 92. 

Born Vera Cassalia, she grew up in Harrison and was a longtime employee of United Hospital in Port Chester. In her youth, Citrone was a professional singer. She later sang at many church services and social functions. She was married to Marco "Mark" Citrone, who died in 2005. 

Citrone is survived by two daughters, Barbara Citrone and Deborah Caputo; two sons, William Citrone and Mark Citrone III; a brother, Donald Cassalia; and seven grandchildren. She was predeceased by nine brothers and sisters. 

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St Gregory's Church in Harrison. Burial will follow at Rose Hills Memorial Park in Putnam Valley. McHoul Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
