Richard Buckley, Head of Broadcasting Chain

GREENWICH, Conn. -- Richard Buckley of Greenwich, head of Buckley Broadcasting, died Sunday in Stony Brook, N.Y., after being hospitalized on a brain-related  issue, according to The Greenwich Time. He was 74 years old.

Buckley had fallen ill during a boating trip near his vacation home in Quogue, N.Y., on Saturday, the newspaper reported.

Buckley took the reins of Buckley Broadcasting from his father in 1972. The company, which is headquartered in Greenwich, owns and operates 20 radio stations in Connecticut, New York and California. Buckley was named to the New York State Broadcasters Association 2011 Hall of Fame in June.

He is survived by his wife, Connie, and daughter, Jennifer, who is director of sales at Buckley-owned  WOR Radio in New York.
