The unidentified man was killed around 10:08 p.m., Sunday, June 7, when Suffolk County Police responded to a home in East Northport.

According to department homicide detectives,  officers responded to a 911 call reporting a violent domestic dispute at 23 Grant St.

When officers arrived at the scene, the man, a resident of the home, pointed what appeared to be a rifle at them and threatened to shoot numerous times, police said.

An officer shot the man, who was pronounced dead at the scene. 

The investigation is continuing.
