Westchester Man Sentenced For Multiple Robberies, Including One Involving 11-Year-Old

A Westchester man has been sentenced to more than a decade in prison after being convicted of multiple street robberies, including one involving an 11-year-old boy.

Yonkers resident William Hines, 52, has been sentenced to serve 11.5 to 20.5 years in state prison after he was found guilty by a jury last year of robbing three victims and assaulting one of them, Westchester County District Attorney Anthony Scarpino, Jr, announced.

Specifically, Hines was found guilty of second-degree robbery, third-degree robbery, assault, grand larceny, and criminal possession of stolen property.

Scarpino said that on three different days, Hines robbed three different victims in Yonkers last year.

At approximately 5:40 p.m. on Jan. 6 last year, near the intersection of Palisade Avenue and Walsh Road in Yonkers, Hines allegedly stole cash from an 11-year-old boy.

Nearly a month later, on Feb. 4, at approximately 12:30 a.m. on Elm Street, Hines was found guilty of forcibly stealing money from another victim, this time, repeatedly punching his victim in the face, sending him to the hospital.

On Feb. 12, Hines again forcibly stole money from his third victim on Ashburton Avenue.
