It happened on Tuesday, Oct. 22 at 10:15 a.m. in Freeport, Nassau County Police said.

According to detectives, the male victim, Charles Grange Jr. of Massapequa, who was part of the road-paving crew working in the vicinity of Guy Lombardo Avenue and Grant Street, was accidentally struck by an accompanying 18-wheel asphalt truck, causing him to suffer fatal injuries. 

Grange was pronounced dead at the scene.

The investigation into this accident is ongoing.
