The all-day event gave those with physical impairments an opportunity to stay fit, enjoy sports and compete. Athletes from ages seven to 70 took part in field events such as javelin, shot put and discus and track events, including 60, 100, 400, 800 and 1,500-meter races. Also debuting this year was a midday wheelchair basketball clinic.
The event was organized by volunteers from Burke as well as the community, and they helped by directing traffic, manning the food tables and cheering on the athletes.
Spectators, athletes and volunteers alike enjoyed carnival games, cotton candy, a photo booth, face painting and a silent auction.
