RYE, N.Y. - The Rye Free Reading Room is hosting a holiday-themed fun club on Friday from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the community meeting room.
The event promises stories, crafts and movies for "big kids" (ages 5 and up). The fun club, which meets every other Friday, is designed to reach out to the school aged child by providing activities after school hours.
"The program was started by Meg Stackpole many years ago," Reading Room Director Donna Harvey said. "We realized that we offered a variety of programs for preschoolers, but didn't have anything school-aged kids."
According to Harvey, the event is a real hit with the kids. "The response is catching on," Harvey said. "The kids really look forward to it."
The fun club, which is a drop in program, like all other programs sponsored by the Rye Free Reading Room is free to the public.
