RYE, N.Y. -- Rye’s Wainwright House understands that 2016’s political machinations and other woes left many folks feeling like they’d been through the wringer, physically, mentally and spiritually.
That’s why it’s offering a number of programs this month that are designed to reduce stress and kickstart the healing process, namely: music, mindfulness and mediumship.
Take a deep breath now; the setting, an historic 1780 mansion overlooking Milton Harbor, is serenity itself.
Dr. Celine Daly and Julie Harris of Harmonic Alchemy will be at Wainwright House from 1:30-2 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 22.
They will be helping folks to shed anxieties by listening to, and playing, singing bowls, gongs, flutes and drums.
They believe that sound vibrations affect all cells in the body and help to balance its “energy centers.”
Registration for the program closes on Wednesday, Jan. 18.
The cost is $25 for members, $30 for non-members, and $40 at the door.
Struggling with sleeplessness, depression or addiction? Taking a five-week mindfulness course with Dr. Sangeeta Bansal may help.
Classes are 6:30-7:30 p.m. Tuesdays (Jan. 24 and 31, Feb. 7, 14 and 21)
Each class will focus on meditation techniques and the way they apply to each discussion topic.
Improving concentration and memory skills can, Bansal says, can be incorporated into daily life.
You must register for the course by Friday, Jan. 20.
The cost is $135 for member and $150 for non-members.
Psychic Joan Carra will be leading a three-hour workshop on the history of mediumship from the Oracle of Delphi to the modern day.
She will also teach participants exercises and techniques for exploring the other side of “the veil” themselves.
They will be able to hear messages Carra says she has received as well as share a few of their own.
The workshop is set for 1-4 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 29. Registration closes on Wednesday, Jan. 25.
The cost is $55 for members and $60 for non-members.
