RYE, N.Y. -- Furniture Sharehouse is holding its first ever art sale on Thursday, April 7, from 6:30 TO 9 p.m. at Serendipity Labs in Rye.
The evening is titled "Home is where the heART is." Tickets are $35 and can be purchased on the Furniture Sharehouse website or by calling 914-834-1294.
Over the years, Furniture Sharehouse has received donations of hundreds of works of art. These extra pieces of art will be sold to the public at the art sale, with all proceeds helping to furnish the homes of people who move into empty apartments after leaving homeless shelters, fleeing domestic violence, and other struggles.
Clients include veterans, people with disabilities, victims of floods or fires, medical crises, or other traumatic situations.
The goal of the art sale is to raise funds to furnish 25 families, providing them with gently used beds, dressers, a kitchen table and chairs, a living room sofa, an arm chair, and other basic pieces.
Each family receives about 20 items after a visit to the Furniture Sharehouse warehouse located at the Westchester County Airport. Furnishings are the foundations of a home, helping people regain self-respect and a sense of normalcy so they can advance from adversity.
The art sale will include more than 150 works of art suitable for display in a country cottage, a stately manor, a mod office, a sports den, and a child's room.
There will be bargains, one-of-a-kind pieces, and limited editions. Most of the art will be sold at fixed prices starting at just $25, with a few special pieces offered through silent auction bidding.
Furniture Sharehouse helps more than 450 families per year and relies on donations from the community to furnish these families.
