RYE, N.Y. Jive to In the Mood or waltz to Moonlight Serenade with the sounds of big-band music on the boardwalk every Friday at Playland Amusement Park in Rye.
From 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. each week through Aug. 3, the Milt Gerver Orchestra will play the music of 1930s and 1940s bandleaders such as Glenn Miller and Tommy Dorsey, accompanied by professional vocalists. A fireworks display over the Long Island Sound begins about 9:15 p.m.
Admission to the big-band performances on the boardwalk is free. Seating is limited, but visitors may bring folding chairs. Parking is $5 on Friday evening, $1 for senior citizens with a Westchester County Parks Pass.
