Angel Flores, 72, abused the girl on multiple occasions for more than a year beginning in December 2015. He would often give her small quantities of cash before each assault, authorities said.
Flores was an acquaintance of the girl's family and was known to them and other residents of the multifamily home in the 600 block of Central Avenue as "Don Benito."
“This man knew her (the victim’s) family knew and trusted took her innocence away from her,” Caroline Lawlor of the prosecutor's Special Victims Unit said during Friday morning’s sentencing hearing.
In the sentencing, Flores was subject to the provisions of the Jessica Lunsford Act, which requires a mandatory minimum sentence of 25 years for anyone convicted of sexually assaulting a child under the age of 13.
