“We are exceptionally pleased to welcome Cardinal Dolan to our most prestigious event of the year,” said Marsha Gordon, BCW president and chief executive officer. “The cardinal is known both nationally and across the world as a compassionate and engaging leader. He is a skilled speaker who brings both insight and humor to his remarks and we look forward to what we are sure will be a memorable evening. Over the years our annual fall dinner has featured a wide range of thought leaders from different walks of life. Cardinal Dolan is sure to add to this proud legacy.”

Dolan and the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of New York share with the BCW a strong belief in fostering economic development and creating jobs for young people, Gordon said. And, like the BCW, Dolan is a big supporter of the passage of the Educational Tax Credit legislation, which would provide a dollar-for-dollar credit against New York’s personal income, corporate franchise, bank and insurance taxes for donations to education-related entities, she added.

The bill aim is to increase charitable donations to public schools, school districts and not-for-profit community-based organizations that operate pre-kindergarten programs, provide visual arts, music, tutoring, college or career readiness or other instruction during or after school.

“Cardinal Dolan is a global leader. To have him spend time with BCW members and the business community will be a real plus,” said John Ravitz, executive vice president and chief operating officer of the BCW.

Dolan was named archbishop of New York by Pope Benedict XVI on Feb. 23, 2009 and appointed to the College of Cardinals on Jan. 6, 2012. Following the resignation of Pope Benedict XVI, Cardinal Dolan participated in the Conclave that elected Pope Francis in March 2013.

The annual dinner typically attracts more than 700 people, making it the largest yearly event open to Westchester County’s business community. For more information, and sponsorship opportunities, visit www.thebcw.org.
