Jill Weiss, Janet DeFrino and Jenny Klein -- the "Three J's" -- opened GOSTRIDE, the first boutique striding studio in North America.

This is not the first business for the women. With Wall Street experience behind them, they started Muse Network in 2003. Muse focused on two principle objectives: providing executive search for hedge funds, large banks and private equity firms and advising senior women on Wall Street with job transitions.

With busy schedules and 10 children among them, they still managed to find time to workout. This passion for fitness led them to opening GOSTRIDE in February. Jill and Jenny were college roommates at the University of Pennsylvania and met Janet when their children were in nursery school together.

Weiss and Klein, both runners, wanted a low impact but high intensity workout where they could achieve a “runner’s high.”, When DeFrino, discovered the Keiser strider while researching the industry, they knew they were onto something.

Together they created the GOSTRIDE program which they said emphasizes core strength and posture while providing an intense cardio workout. During the 50 minute striding class instructors lead clients through a series of runs, hills, intervals, pushes and climbs set to energizing music in a dimly lit studio.

The workout replicates movements that are natural to the body such as hiking, running and climbing while working both the upper and lower body with virtually no impact on the joints. Each strider has a resistance lever and monitor so each strider controls the level of his or her workout and can monitor their effort day to day.

“GOSTRIDE has made my core stronger, my runs faster and I am always having fun,'' Weiss said.

Classes begin at $30 for a 50 minute class. For more information, visit the GOSTRIDE website or Facebook page.
