RYE, N.Y. -- Poppy’s Luncheonette in Rye is celebrating 32 years in business.
“The best thing about Poppy’s,” says Gerri, the owner, “is that you can order breakfast any time of the day.”
She originally started the business with her father. Gerri is up at 4:30 a.m. daily, preparing ingredients for the day’s fare, and is best friends with Linda the cook. They have been partners in Poppy’s since her father died.
Besides egg creams, they make burgers--meat is purchased from the local butcher, chili, turkey bacon and egg whites, blueberry and banana pancakes, soups of the day and much much more.
