Goldman Sachs Group Inc. said on Monday that Harvey M. Schwartz is retiring, according to this article in The New York Times, likely clearing the path for David M. Solomon, fellow president and co-chief operating officer to become the Wall Street firm’s next chief executive.
Solomon was born and raised in Hartsdale.
Solomon is a member of the Goldman Sachs Management Committee and chairman of the Firmwide Client and Business Standards Committee and Firmwide Reputational Risk Committee. He also is co-chair of the Firmwide Enterprise Risk Committee.
Previously, Solomon was co-head of the Investment Banking Division from July 2006 to December 2016 and prior to that, he was the Global Head of the Financing Group, which includes all capital markets and derivative products for the firm’s corporate clients.
He joined Goldman Sachs as a partner in 1999.
Solomon also is a member of the Board of Trustees of Hamilton College and serves on the board of The Robin Hood Foundation.
